about

I’m often very late to the party when it comes to popular music. I don’t watch television, I don’t listen to the radio. Instead, I absorb the music I already possess very slowly. New music arrives through very organic channels, mostly through recommendations from friends or chance encounters. Andrew Lorien first played me Radiohead’s “Hail to the Thief” only a couple of years ago and I was completely transported. A love affair ensued as I waded through their back catalogue, but ‘Thief’ remains my favourite Radiohead album and ‘There There’ my favourite track. Here I dedicate it to Andrew as a return of that chance favour and many others. I’m aware that my attempt to capture something of the guitar solo is a little clunky, but nothing gets in the way of those haunting lyrics and how they strip me bare. “There’s always a siren singing you to shipwreck. Steer away from these rocks, you’d be a walking disaster.” “We are accidents...waiting to happen.”
