Another song written during February Album Writing Month 2019. My father, Clarence Frencham, died in the winter of 2018. This is my tribute to his complicated, yet brilliant mind.

He could always build it
It would be solid, strong
Last a thousand years

His touch was seldom gentle but there was love,

My dad
He would invent it
Any puzzle would seed
a curious need
Welding steel
Problem solved
but oh so ugly
No sleek refined design
but lots of love, love love

My dad
He could explain it
Full of detail and diagrams
Demonstrations using fruit and cutlery
No subtlety
Black eyes blazing with intelligence
So passionate
And even though he’s left us
My wild and curious spirit bears his influence

Taught us to do it for ourselves
We built my first car
from rusty parts
Sanded silky smooth
and though the work was ugly
